 Thoroughbred Horse
Best known as horse racers, Thoroughbred Horses are hot blooded, and known for their spirit, agility, and speed. They were first created in 17th and 18th century England by crossbreeding their native mares with imported Arabian stallions. There are 3 stallions that each modern Thoroughbred can trace their pedigrees back to. These stallions were originally imported into England in the 1600 and 1700’s. The main uses for Thoroughbreds are racing, riding disciplines, and fox hunting. Commonly cross-bred with other breeds to make new breeds or improve existing ones, the typical Thoroughbred stands between 15.2 to 17.0 hands high. The average size is 16 hands high.
